Saw a beautiful 3D Photo while scrolling through your Facebook Newsfeed? Here is how to do it.

In late 2018 Facebook rolled out a 3D photo feature for iPhone users that lets them take Portrait Mode photos and render them into 3D photos.

Facebook's 3D photo renders are a bit rough, and some photos will come out the other side much better than others, but it's still a fun feature to play with. At the time of this post, the Facebook 3D photo feature isn't currently available on Android devices. The feature only works on iPhone models that take Portrait Mode photos, which includes iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X and later devices. Now let's walk through the steps to post a Facebook 3D photo in the Facebook app on your iPhone.

Step 1. Tap to launch the Facebook app on your iPhone. Your Facebook home screen appears.

Step 2. Tap the "What's on your mind?" field at the top of your screen. The Create Post screen appears.

Step 3. Tap "3D Photo" in the list of options on the lower half of the screen. A Portraits screen will open, displaying all of the photos you've taken in portrait mode on your iPhone.

By default, the "3D Photo" option is disabled. In order to enable it, type in the top search bar "Facebook 360", then click on the verified "Facebook 360" page, and click on the LIKE button to like the page.

Then close completely the app, and launch it again, and go to the options list of the "Create Post" screen, where you will find the "3D Photo" option enabled, and waiting to be clicked.

Step 4. Tap to select the photo you want Facebook to render a 3D photo of. The selected picture appears on a new screen that says Creating a 3D Photo across the top of it, with a progress circle in the center that displays the progress of turning your photo into a 3D photo. The message and progress bar will disappear after the 3D photo has been successfully created, and your 3D photo will be displayed on the screen.

Step 5. Move your iPhone around to preview the 3D photo. Tap "Next" in the lower right corner of the screen when you want to move forward with posting your 3D photo to your Facebook account. You'll be returned to the Create Post screen.

Step 6. Enter any message you want to add in the text field above the Facebook 3D photo, and then tap "Share" in the upper right corner of the screen. The Share To menu will fly up from the bottom of your screen. Select who you want to share your post with, and then tap the blue "Share Now" button. Your post will be shared, and you'll see "...added a 3D photo" to the right of your name at the top of your post.

Congratulations!

You now know how to post a Facebook 3D photo in the Facebook app on your iPhone.
